CMHA Officials Description of Duties

Like a job, being an official comes with benefits, but it also has certain responsibilities. Officials volunteer their availability for officiating minor hockey, and are paid an honorarium for the games work.

Qualifications:

Member of the Hockey Saskatchewan (SHA) Referee's Division
Attended a Hockey Saskatchewan Officials Clinic
12 years of age or older
If age 18 and older, obtained Criminal Record Check and submitted the completed CRC letter

Responsibilities:

Responsible to work all hockey games assigned based on the availability provided
To find a qualified replacement when unable to work scheduled game(s)
To ensure the CMHA Referee Assignor is made aware of any and all changes
To ensure hockey game(s) start on time and that there are no undue delays returning from floods
All members are expected to follow and uphold the Hockey Canada Officiating Program’s (HCOP’s) Official’s Code of Ethics as well as all Hockey Saskatchewan regulations
Each CMHA Hockey Official is responsible for carrying out his/her duties and assignments in a manner that will gain respect for both officials and officiating
To attend all CMHA Referee Division educational meetings as scheduled throughout the season.
