We are excited to announce that cheer registration is now open for the upcoming season. Cheerleading is a fantastic way for young athletes to stay active, build confidence, and make new friends while supporting their local football teams. The cheer program is open to children of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced cheerleaders. Participants will have the opportunity to perform at football games, showcase their skills at competition, and be a part of a supportive and inclusive team environment.

Practices
Practices will begin on July 7, 2025 at Mackin Park, twice a week at 6:00 PM for up to two hours every Tuesday and Thursday. In September, practices will move to elementary school gyms in Coquitlam, but the exact locations will be announced later.

Game Days & Competition
Starting in late August, the squad will cheer and engage the crowd at football games every weekend. The season wraps up in November with a cheerleading competition.

We are urgently seeking more volunteer coaches. If you’re interested in making a meaningful impact, please click here to register. Your involvement is crucial to our growth and success.

Each athlete receives a CMFA uniform rental. A deposit cheque of $200 (post-dated December 15) is required.

Cheques must be payable to Coquitlam Minor Football Association and submitted to your Team Manager, with the athlete’s name and division in the memo. The cheque will be returned or destroyed at season end once all items are returned clean and complete. Missing or damaged items may result in the cheque being deposited.
These positions are exempt from volunteer hours, but registration is required. If already registered as a volunteer for Spring 2026, no need to register again.
Each CMFA family is required to complete a minimum number of volunteer hours each season, including supporting home games we host. To ensure this commitment is met, a $300 volunteer deposit cheque (post-dated December 15) is required. This is a deposit, not a fee. One cheque per family should be submitted to the Team Manager, payable to Coquitlam Minor Football Association, with the eldest child’s name and team (and any siblings) noted in the memo.

The cheque will be returned or destroyed once the required volunteer hours are completed. If the hours are not fulfilled, CMFA may deposit the cheque to help offset association operating costs.

By executing this form, whether on-line or by signature, you agree that you are the registering player’s parent/legal guardian and that you have read, understand, and are bound by the Agreement terms.
I have read and understand this agreement and accept its terms, waiving certain legal rights for myself and my child/ward, including those of our heirs and representatives.
I consent to the possibility of my child’s photograph or video appearing on the Coquitlam Minor Football Association website, social media, or other promotional materials for the purpose of promoting football.
• I will always play by the rules and in the spirit of the game.
• I will participate because I want to, not just because my parents or coaches want me to.
• I will never argue with an official. If I disagree with a decision, I will inform the Head Coach during a break or after the competition.
• I will control my temper. I understand that verbal abuse of officials and other players, and deliberately distracting or provoking an opponent, are not acceptable or permitted behaviours in football.
• I will work equally hard for myself and/or my team.
• I will be a good sport and applaud all good plays whether they are made by my team or the opposition.
• I will treat all players in my sport as I like to be treated. I will not bully or take unfair advantage of another competitor.
• I will cooperate with my coach, team members, and opponents.
• I will display modesty in victory and graciousness in defeat.
• I will respect the rights, dignity and worth of all people involved in the game, regardless of their gender, ability, or cultural background.
• I will thank the opposition and officials at the end of the game.
• I won’t pressure my child in any way – I know that this is their game, not mine.
• I will not use bad language, nor will I harass players, coaches, officials, executive members, or other spectators.
• I will encourage my child to play within the rules and respect officials’ and coaches’ decisions without resorting to hostility or violence – no matter what.
• I will teach my child to respect the efforts of their opponents.
• I will remember that children learn best by example, so I will applaud good plays/performances by both my child’s team and their opponents.
• I will give positive comments that motivate and encourage continued effort.
• I will focus on my child’s and their team’s efforts and performance, not the score.
• I will thank the coaches, officials, and other volunteers who give their time to conduct the event for my child.
• I will volunteer my services and help when asked by a coach, manager, or executive member.
• I won’t criticize or ridicule my child’s performance after the game - I realize that good fun is more important than a good win, so my child never feels defeated by the outcome of a game/event.
• I will not arrive at the field intoxicated or under the influence of drugs, nor will I drink alcohol nor do drugs at any practice, game, or event.
• I will respect the rights, dignity, and worth of all people involved in the game, regardless of their gender, ability, or cultural background.
• Coaching staff must remain with their squad at all times.
• Cheerleaders are required to remain with their squads throughout the entire Competition, with the exception of break times and lunch. Cheerleaders are not to leave the premises of the Competition without permission from their Coach.
• Disrespectful behavior, inappropriate comments, or use of profane language directed at other Judges, Coaches, and Coordinators or towards another squad or member of another squad will not be tolerated. This behaviour is not in keeping with the goal of the Competition; therefore, violation of this rule may result in disqualification of the squad.
• Coaching staff, Managers, Cheerleaders or parents may NOT coach or prompt their Cheerleaders during their performance. This means that there will be absolutely NO Coaching from the sidelines, behind the Judge’s table, or any other part of the Competition area.
***Note: Coaches, Managers, and Cheerleaders are not permitted to sit in front of or stand behind the Judge’s table at any time or that squad will be disqualified
*Coaches are to be either within the Associations’ designated area or in Coaches’ designated seating area (if provided) during routine performance*
• Cheerleading runs the entire football season which includes preseason practice through to play-off games.
• Cheerleading squads are to cheer for all corresponding Football teams to the corresponding Cheer squad; this includes away games. If more than one Football team is scheduled which causes a conflict, then the ACC must balance scheduling as evenly as possible for the Football teams. A reasonable compromise must be reached if there are two Cheer squads and one corresponding Football team.
• In a case where Associations have a minimal number of squads it is encouraged that games are rotated and assigned accordingly to Jr and Sr mixed squad groups.
• Cheerleaders are to be a safe distance from the sidelines at all times.
• Cheerleaders are to not interfere with the playing field and are to GET OUT OF THE WAY if the football play is headed for the sidelines.
• Squads are to be respectful of visiting cheerleaders and exercise common courtesy. (i.e. Do not begin a cheer until the other squad is done)
• Half time performances should only be done at your own home field to show courtesy and respect to the host Association Cheerleaders.
• Cheers should begin between plays on the field or during time-outs. Not on a flag or during an injury or over an announcer.
• There is to be no stunting while a game is in play.
• If you are a visiting team at an away game your team must receive permission from the other Coach (and Coordinator if possible) to stunt.
• Cheerleaders are to display good sportsmanship. Be generous winners and gracious losers.
• Cheerleaders and Coaches are to conduct themselves with honour and dignity at all times and show Association pride.
• As a parent or guardian, I am fully responsible for the conduct of any guests I bring to CMFA activities and any resulting consequences.
