RE:        Football Nova Scotia Programs

TO:        Football Nova Scotia and its Directors, Officers, Representatives, Sponsors, Officials, Coaches, Agents (volunteers, contributing schools/ community organizations providing equipment and facilities, medical personnel, hosting facility and its employees and directors collectively called “Agents”), and the Halifax Xplosion.

I have read the guidelines issued for the above listed event, which I understand and agree to be bound by them. In consideration of your acceptance of my entry into the above listed event and all of the activities therewith, I agree to RELEASE, SAVE HARMLESS, AND INDEMNIFY Football Nova Scotia, its committees, and / or its Agents from all claims, actions, cost and expenses and demands in respect to death, injury, loss or damage to my person or property wheresoever and howsoever caused, arising out of or in conjunction with, my taking part in the program and notwithstanding the same may have been contributed to or occasioned by any act or failure to act (including, without limitation, negligence) by Football Nova Scotia, its Committees or its Agents. I further acknowledge that:

  1. The rules and guidelines governing this program are solely for the purpose of regulating the program and it remains the sole responsibility of me to govern myself in such a manner as to be responsible for my own safety;

  2. I am aware of the risks inherent in participating in the program;

  3. I assume the risks and waive notice of all conditions, dangers or otherwise in or about this program;

  4. I agree that this release shall bind my heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns;

  5. I agree to allow photos and videos taken of me during football games and practices to be used by Football Nova Scotia and the Halifax Xplosion for advertising and marketing efforts and may be shown in public;

  6. I have read this Release and understand it.

Expectation for Halifax Xplosion Players

  1. Be respectful of teammates, coaches, officials, and volunteers. Inappropriate   behaviors and attitudes will not be tolerated.

  2. Attendance at practices is mandatory. We recognize that there may be conflicts with work and that unexpected commitments arise from time to time, but short of that, we expect you to be at practice. Consequences for missed practices will be determined by the coaching staff, which can include reduced playing time in games and expulsion from the team in severe cases. All decisions are final. IF YOU CANNOT MAKE PRACTICE, YOU MUST INFORM THE COACHES AND/OR EXEC PRIOR TO PRACTICE.

  3. Listen and pay attention to the coaches and volunteers when they are speaking.

  4. Show maximum effort in not only the skills and drills, but also in studying the playbook and at team meetings and functions.

  5. Know the playbooks ~ including formations, alignments, adjustments, etc.

  6. Know the play calls and signals.

  7. Do not berate or complain to the officials. Speaking to the officials is the job of the coaches and captains. If there is a concern that needs to be addressed please tell your captain.

  8. On the field, play fairly and respectfully. Do not talk negatively to the other team. If a player from the other team is on the ground, help them up. Basically, treat them the way that you would like to be treated. It’s a cliché, but it’s true and it should guide the way that we conduct ourselves on a daily basis.

  9. Accept your role on the team, everyone IS vital to the success of the team. It’s important that we all have fun and that we also bring maximum effort to    practices and games. If we all commit to this, the team will be awesome.

  10. At the end of the day, we all want to win and we all want to learn. While you may not understand some of the decisions made by the coaching staff and executive, please recognize that all decisions are made based on the best interests of the team as a whole. Ask questions so that you can learn and grow.

  11. Family members (significant others, children, etc.) are not allowed on the bench sidelines during games. These individuals are not insured through FNS and any incident would fall to the team’s responsibility.

  12. If you have a suggestion for improvement, raise the issues with the coaching staff or the executive. We don’t see and know everything, and your input is vital to the success of the team.

  13. Registration fees are $250.00 for the season. This helps cover:
                Player insurance                      Player Gear and Uniforms
                Field and equipment fees        Officials fees
                Football Nova Scotia fees        Maritime Women’s Football League fees

    At the time of registration, a minimum of $100.00 is due and owing, with 75.00 being non-refundable as it is owed to Football Nova Scotia for insurance and fees. If you stop playing prior to the first game, you may be eligible to a pro-rated refund. The remaining $150.00 is due and owing one week before the first game. Players that have not paid their registration fees will not be able to practice and will be ineligible to play in any games, unless arrangements have been made. If you need to make financial arrangements other than what is stated above you can speak to our Treasurer, Dianne Ikeda.

    YOU MUST HAVE PAID A MINIMUM OF $100.00 PRIOR TO RECEIVING YOUR GEAR. If you do not have gear due to not paying, you are still expected to attend practice to watch.

  14. The registration fees we collect do not cover the whole cost to operate the Halifax Xplosion. We will be fundraising and seeking out sponsors and will use this money to help with travel expenses for away games, etc.  If you are unable to participate in fundraising activities, we will be asking for an extra fee of $20.00-$50.00.

  3. I accept and understand that I am solely responsible for my use of the Equipment, and no other party whatsoever may be held liable for its condition, use, or misuse, or any injury that may result during my use of the Equipment.
