Sport Specific Information 

  • Swimming
    • Sanctioned by Potomac Valley LMSC for USMS Inc. Sanction Number: 105-S002
    • Hosted by District of Columbia Aquatics Club
    • Competition Dates: Saturday May 31st through Thursday June 5th with Tuesday June 3rd being a break day for Open-Water Swimming. 
    • Venue: Long Bridge Aquatic Center located at 333 Long Bridge Drive in Arlington, VA 22202
    • For IGLA+ 2025 Championship, competition at Long Bridge will be conducted in an 8-lane, 25 meter format.  The other portion of the pool will be available for warm up and warm down but set up as 25 yards.  We will not be running two courses at a time.

  • Order of Events: 
    • Day 1 - Saturday May 31st:  200 Breaststroke, 50 Freestyle, 100 Butterfly, 200 Backstroke, and 400 Freestyle 
    • Day 2 - Sunday June 1st:  50 Backstroke, 200 Individual Medley, 200 Butterfly, 100 Breaststroke, and 800 Freestyle
    • Day 3 - Monday June 2nd:  50 Butterfly, 100 Individual Medley, 100 Freestyle, 1500 Freestyle 
    • Day 4 - Wednesday June 4th: 200 Freestyle, 50 Breaststroke, 100 Backstroke, and 400 Individual Medley.  
    • Day 5 - RELAY DAY - Thursday June 5th: 400 Freestyle Relay, 200 Medley Relay, 800 Freestyle Relay, 200 Free Relay, and 400 Medley Relay
  • Athletes may enter up to 5 individual events, but IGLA+ 2025 Championship organizers reserve the right to drop and refund the fifth entered event should there be a high number of entries. 
  • Athletes may participate in up to 4 relays on the final day.
    • Relay entries will be completed by the team captain/coach after individual registration closes.  
  • The length of the competition course is not on file with USMS. Eligibility of times achieved in this meet will be contingent upon pool length measurement and approval with USMS; if bulkheads are present, their placement must also be confirmed by measurements at the meet (USMS articles 105.1.7 and 106.2.1).   
  • Scheduled times for the meet (subject to change)
    • Warm-up: 8:00am to 8:45am
    • Competition: 9:00am
  • The primary timing system will be automatic timing. Times from this competition will be eligible for world record, USMS record, and Top 10 consideration.
  • Times swum under one-event registration are not eligible for USMS Top 10 or records consideration.  
  • Seeding:
    • Odd numbered events will be USMS events, even numbered events will be Open events.
    • Heats within each event will be seeded slow to fast by time.
    • Positive Check In will be required for distance events (400 Free, 800 Free,1500 Free, 400 IM)

Fees:

  • IGLA+ 2025 Championship General Registration Fees
    • Early Bird $110 through January 15th, 2025
    • Regular $120 from January 16th, 2025 through April 20th, 2025
    • Last Chance $130 from April 21st 2025 through April 30th, 2025.
  • Swimming Individual Event Fee: $20 per event 
  • Swimming Relay Entry Fee:  $25 per relay (note: relays will be registered by your coach during the month of May, you will not be charged for relay entries).   
  • As an example: 
    • A swimmer completing an early bird registration and entering the maximum of five individual events will be charged $210 plus a transaction fee.

Note: IGLA+ 2025 Swimming will have the following competition categories: "USMS Female" will include cis female athletes and eligible trans female athletes. "USMS Male" will include cis male athletes and trans male athletes who opt into this category. "Open" will include non-binary athletes, trans female athletes who do not meet USMS criteria for transgender, and any trans male athletes that opt in.
Accommodations could include any that may be needed due to a disability or could include swimsuit modification requests.
Organizers will work with you to get the necessary approvals from USMS.

You may register up to 5 individual events. When registering, ensure the 5th event is the event you least likely want to swim. Due to timing constraints, the IGLA+ 2025 Championship organizers could reduce the number of individual events from 5 to 4.

Remember, this should be your least desirable event to compete. The IGLA+ 2025 Championship organizing committee reserves the right to drop this event and issue a refund should there be too many entries.

Relays will all take place on Thursday, June 5th. Again, you may only select up to 4 relay events and the cost to you, the individual athlete, is $0 at checkout.

Waivers

Understanding that participation in the IGLA+ 2025 Championship is voluntary, I, the athlete completing this IGLA+ 2025 Championship registration, hereby acknowledges and consents to the IGLA+ 2025 Championship, the District of Columbia Aquatics Club, the Washington DSeahorses, and IGLA+ using my image, voice, or likeness as captured in photographs, video recordings, or audio recordings for promotional materials, publications, websites, and social media.

I understand and agree that:

1. My image, voice, or likeness may be used, edited, copied, exhibited, published, or distributed.
2. I waive the right to inspect or approve the finished product.
3. I will not receive any compensation for the use of my image, voice, or likeness.
4. There is no time limit on the validity of this consent and no geographic limitations on where these
materials may be distributed.
5. This consent is granted on a royalty-free basis.

I understand that these materials will become the property of the IGLA+ 2025 Championship, the District of Columbia Aquatics Club, the Washington DSeahorses, and IGLA+ and will not be returned.

PARTICIPANT WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY, ASSUMPTION OF RISK AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT

 
For and in consideration of United States Masters Swimming, Inc. (“USMS”) allowing me, the undersigned, to participate in any USMS sanctioned or approved activity, including swimming camps, clinics, and exhibitions; learn-to-swim programs; swimming tryouts; fitness and training programs (including dryland training); swim practices and workouts (for both pool and open water); pool meets; open water competitions; local, regional, and national competitions and championships (both pool and open water); Grown-Up Swimming meets or workouts; and/or related activities (“Event” or “Events”); I, for myself, and on behalf of my spouse, children, heirs and next of kin, and any legal and personal representatives, executors, administrators, successors, and assigns, hereby agree to and make the following contractual representations pursuant to this Waiver and Release of Liability, Assumption of Risk and Indemnity Agreement (the “Agreement”);
 
1. I hereby certify and represent that (i) I am in good health and in proper physical condition to participate in the Events; and (ii) I have not been advised of any medical conditions that would impair my ability to safely participate in the Events. I agree that it is my sole responsibility to determine whether I am sufficiently fit and healthy enough to participate in the Events.
 
2. I acknowledge the inherent risks associated with the sport of swimming. I understand that my participation involves risks and dangers, which include, without limitation, the potential for serious bodily injury, sickness and disease, viral or bacterial infection including but not limited to COVID-19 , permanent disability, paralysis and death (from drowning or other causes); loss of or damage to personal property and equipment; exposure to extreme conditions and circumstances; accidents involving other participants, event staff, volunteers or spectators; contact or collision with natural or manmade objects; dangers arising from adverse weather conditions; imperfect water conditions; water and surface hazards; facility issues; equipment failure; inadequate safety measures; participants of varying skill levels; situations beyond the immediate control of the Event organizers; and other undefined, not readily foreseeable and presently unknown risks and dangers (“Risks”). I understand that these Risks may be caused in whole or in part by my own actions or inactions, the actions or inactions of others participating in the Events, or the negligent acts or omissions of the Released Parties defined below, and I hereby expressly assume all such Risks and responsibility for any damages, liabilities, losses or expenses that I incur as a result of my participation in any Events.
 
3. I agree to be familiar with and to abide by the Rules and Regulations, including the Code of Conduct and any safety regulations established by USMS. I accept sole responsibility for my own conduct and actions while participating in the Events and acknowledge that violations of the code of conduct may result in disciplinary action up to and including suspension of USMS membership.
 
4. I hereby Release, Waive and Covenant Not to Sue, and further agree to Indemnify, Defend and Hold Harmless the following parties: USMS, its members, clubs, workout groups, event hosts, employees, contractors, and volunteers (including, but not limited to, event directors, coaches, officials, judges, timers, safety marshals, lifeguards, and support boat owners and operators); the USA Swimming Foundation; Grown-Up Swimming, LLC; USMS Local Masters Swimming Committees (LMSCs); the Event organizers and promoters, sponsors and advertisers; pool facility, lake and property owners or operators hosting the Events; law enforcement agencies and other public entities providing support for the Events; and each of their respective parent, subsidiary and affiliated companies, officers, directors, partners, shareholders, members, agents, employees, and volunteers (individually and collectively, the “Released Parties”), with respect to any liability, claim(s), demand(s), cause(s) of action, damage(s), loss or expense (including court costs and reasonable attorneys’ fees) of any kind or nature (“Liability”) which may arise out of, result from, or relate in any way to my participation in the Events, including claims for Liability caused in whole or in part by the negligent acts or omissions of the Released Parties.
 
5. I further agree that if, despite this Agreement, I, or anyone on my behalf, makes a claim for Liability against any of the Released Parties, I will indemnify, defend and hold harmless each of the Released Parties from any such Liabilities which any may be incurred as the result of such
claim. 
 
I hereby warrant that I am of legal age and competent to enter into this Agreement, that I have read this Agreement carefully, understand its terms and conditions, acknowledge that I will be giving up substantial legal rights by signing it (including the rights of my spouse, children, heirs and next of kin, and any legal and personal representatives, executors, administrators, successors, and assigns), acknowledge that I have signed this Agreement without any inducement, assurance, or guarantee, and intend for my signature to serve as confirmation of my complete and unconditional acceptance of the terms, conditions and provisions of this Agreement. This Agreement represents the complete understanding between the parties regarding these issues and no oral representations, statements, or inducements have been made apart from this Agreement. If any provision of this Agreement is held to be unlawful, void, or for any reason unenforceable, then that provision shall be deemed severable from this Agreement and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining provisions.

IGLA+ 2025 Championship Refund Policy 

We are excited to have you join us for the IGLA+ 2025 Championship!  Our refund policy is designed to be as clear and straightforward as possible while maintaining fairness to all athletes.

Limited Refund Eligibility

  • Refunds are to be issued at the sole discretion of the IGLA+ 2025 ChampionshipTournament Committee.  

Special Circumstances

  • In the event of a medical emergency, a refund may be considered on a case-by-case basis. A statement from a medical professional may be requested.

  • If the tournament is cancelled by the organizers prior to the scheduled start (Friday May 30th, 2025), all participants will receive a full refund.

  • If the open water swimming competition is cancelled on Tuesday June 3rd due to weather or water conditions, participants can compete in the make-up day on Friday June 6th.  If the make-up competition is cancelled due to weather or water conditions, refunds for the event fees only will be issued automatically.   

Refund Process

  • To request a refund, participants must submit an email request to info@igla2025.org  by Friday June 8th, 2025. 

  • Refunds will be considered, adjudicated, processed (if applicable) within 10 business days after the request has been received.

  • Refunds will be issued using the original method of payment.

Non-Refundable Items

  • Items such as tournament merchandise or gear are non-refundable but may be switched for a different size
