Respect in Sport (RIS) – Parent Program (U5-U18)

The Respect in Sport (RIS) – Parent Program is an online certification that promotes a safe, respectful, and positive hockey environment. It helps parents support their children while reinforcing Hockey Alberta’s commitment to player safety.

Important Information:

  • Mandatory for Registration: Under Hockey Alberta rules (3.5D for U5-U9, 2.4D for U11-U18), proof of RIS – Parent certification is required for player registration.
  • Validity: Certification is valid for four seasons, expiring on May 1st of the final year.
  • Completion Time: The course takes under one hour to complete online.
  • Who Needs It: One parent or legal guardian per participant must complete the course for the U7 -U18 age groups - U21 (JrC) does not need this
  • No Certificate, No Participation: Players cannot participate in any of KHC's programs without a valid RIS certificate on file.

Acknowledgment:

It is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to ensure RIS certification is up to date. Failure to do so may delay your child’s placement on a team.

In split-family situations, any parent or legal guardian completing the RIS waiver acknowledges that this requirement applies to the participant, regardless of who registers the child.

Knights Hockey Club Refund Policy

There is a non-refundable administration fee of $100.00 applied to all player withdrawals prior to the start of player evaluations. Once evaluations (including pathway and conditioning skates) have started, and prior to teams being established, 50% of the total registration fee will be refunded. No refunds will be provided after teams have been formed except for withdrawal due to medical reason or family relocation out of zone 9. In such cases, refunds will be pro-rated. Medical withdrawal requirements are outlined below:

Medical certificate (on medical practice letterhead)

  • Date of diagnosis
  • Medical reason/recommendation for non-participation
  • Printed name and signature of medical professional
  • The refund will be prorated based on the date of diagnosis

Once a medical refund has been given, the player will be removed from the official roster and will no longer be allowed to participate in team activities. The roster spot will now be considered vacant and could be filled by a new player registration.

No refunds will be issued for suspended players.

Notice of withdrawals will only be accepted via email to the Administrator. The date and time stamp of the email will be used to determine eligibility and what refund scenario is applicable.

By registering with TeamLinkt, you commit to adhere to the refund policies, fees, and timelines set by your chosen organization or program. You commit not to initiate any chargebacks.  Deviations from this policy may result in the forfeiture of any refund.
