Welcome to the South Edmonton Mixed Slo-Pitch League (SEMSL), a fun league that has been running for many years in the Edmonton area. We play Slo-Pitch every Thursday night from May through August. Our diamonds are scattered around the south side of Edmonton.

We are a fun league, as stated above, mixed, with a 7-3 ratio of men to women. We do encourage competitive play but in an entertaining, safe, and overall fun manner. We all have lives outside of the league and hope our teams respect that above all else - safety and fun.

SEMSL WAIVER AND CODE OF ETHICS
South Edmonton Mixed Slo-Pitch League Participant WAIVER AND RELEASE

I request permission to enter onto land, facilities or premises and all
sponsored event locations to be used in the South Edmonton Mixed
Slo-Pitch League (the “SEMSL”) for the purpose of engaging in SEMSL
sporting and/or leisure activities. In consideration of the permission
granted to me to enter upon the aforesaid land, facilities, locations or
premises and the privilege of participation in the SEMSL, I hereby, for
myself and my heirs, executors, administrators, other personal
representatives and assigns, release, waive and discharge and save
harmless:

(a) South Edmonton Mixed Slo-Pitch League (SEMSL) and all its members;
and

(b) sponsors of the SEMSL; and

(c) owners and operators of the facilities, locations or premises in, at
or upon which activities of the SEMSL will take place; and

(d) volunteer workers assisting in the SEMSL activities; and

(e) all officers, agents, servants, employees or representatives of the
foregoing; (all of which persons are collectively referred to as the
'SEMSL Members')

from any and all liabilities, claims, suits, demands, actions and causes
of action of any sort for injury sustained to my person (including death
resulting therefrom) and/or property damage including gross negligence,
of any sort, that may be sustained in connection with my participation
in the SEMSL in at or upon such facilities, locations or premises. I am
familiar with the facilities, locations or premises in, at or upon which
the activities in which I will participate will be conducted, and know
and consent to the risks and dangers involved in such activities. I
acknowledge that the SEMSL Members or any one of them are not
responsible or under any obligation to place any facility, location or
premises in any other condition other than what now exists so as to
ensure my safety while I am therein, thereat or thereon. In executing
this waiver and release, I confirm that my attendance and participation
in the SEMSL is voluntary. I agree to participate in the SEMSL in
accordance with all the applicable rules and regulations. I further
recognize that I may obtain a copy of these rules and regulations by
request to the SEMSL. If any term, condition or provision of this waiver
and release or the application thereof to any person or circumstance
shall to any extent be invalid or unenforceable, the remainder of this
waiver and release or the application of such term, condition or
provision to persons or circumstances other than those as to which it is
held invalid or unenforceable, shall not be effected thereby and each
term, condition or provision shall be separately valid and enforceable
to the fullest extent permitted by law. The provisions of this waiver
and release shall survive my participation in the SEMSL. I acknowledge
that I have reviewed this waiver and release, fully understand its
provisions, and I am executing it voluntarily.

SEMSL Code of Ethics

I  believe that the true essence of sport is to strive for personal
achievement and excellence through full and honest effort. I am
committed to participating in sport with integrity, and by striving to
win only by legitimate means. I pledge to learn, understand and adhere
to both the written rules of my sport and the accepted rules of fair
play. I believe that violence and physical intimidation are harmful to
sport, and I refuse to use such tactics. I understand that officials,
teammates and opponents are all integral to sport and are worthy of my
respect. It is my responsibility to maintain self-control. I play with
intensity but without hostility and behave graciously in triumph or
defeat. Language (in any dialect spoken) will be used appropriately and
without deliberate profanity to the respect of all on the field and off
during play. I understand that events that happen on the field will stay
on the field and must not be carried over into our professional lives. I
understand that in the SEMSL league we may be required to provide our
own Umpires for games, and as such I will respect the person and the
calls made by those appointed as such during a game in a fair and
respectable manor.

Any breach of these ethics will result in removal from the league.

I, the undersigned, agree to these ethics and will abide by them.
