Parent/Guardian Contract

Welcome to the South Siskiyou Youth Sports (SCYS); Siskiyou County Trojans

SCYS is a non-profit organization that requires adult and parent participation to succeed. Adult participants are needed to coach the football and cheerleading squads, volunteer to work in many capacities at home and away games, to transport children to practice and games, to help raise money for the Association, and much more. Adult SCYS participants include coaches, scouts, managers, parents, guardians and spectators. Adult participants are subject to SYF rules. In order to have a successful, fair & equitable SCYS program, all parents and adult participants are asked to read and agree to the following SCYS guidelines.

I understand that as part of SCYS, my child is part of a unique association and that every effort will be made to physically and mentally prepare my child for the demands of contact football & cheerleading. I will download the TeamLinkt app and turn on notifications for association and coach communications.

I understand that at no time am I allowed on the football or practice field unless I am a certified volunteer. Myself and/or guests (including other children) will stay off practice field and game field

Practice: I will have my child picked up and dropped 15 minutes ahead of scheduled time. I will insure my child is dressed and prepared for practice. All practices are mandatory. I will check the TeamLinkt app daily at or after 4pm for possible changes or cancellations. If I participate in other sports Siskiyou County Trojans practices and games will be my athlete's priority.

Complete Registration Packet/ Fees: I understand that all my child’s registration packet must be complete, and all fees paid to SCYS before equipment is provided. I have reviewed and understand the financial responsibilities of the Registration fee (varies). A sponsorship may be applied as long as the required documents are completed and submitted before the registration deadline. **No child is allowed on the practice field unless the complete packet and fees have been submitted**

Game Play Time: I understand there are minimum play rules in which the coach is following. Missed practices, bad behavior, or actions requiring discipline will result in decreased playing time at the next game.

Cheer Time: I understand that cheerleaders with more than one (1) unexcused practice per week may not be allowed to cheer at all or part of that week’s game. Specifically in the half time event of upcoming game.

Education: I will make sure my child attends school and works hard at his/her education as part of his/her success in SCYS. I understand that education is a priority and that SCYS will sit my child out of practice or a game if my child is not performing well in school. Education is part of SCYS success.

Complaints: I understand that if I have questions or complaints about any aspect of a practice, a game or the SCYS association, I will put my request in writing and email it to Kyost@siskiyoucountytrojans.com or deliver it to the coach liaison. I understand that this cannot and will not occur during practice or on a game day or with any child present. I understand I can be barred from practice or games if I violate adult responsibilities. This program is for the KIDS.

If I have a complaint or issue it shall be my responsibility to contact a Board Member in writing to add my issue to the Board agenda or it may not be addressed.

Adult/ Parent Personal Responsibilities:

I understand that open criticism of SCYS, the Board or the coaching staff, or displays of unsportsmanlike or other unacceptable conduct in public (practice or games) will be grounds for dismissal of the adult, parent or participant from all SCYS activities. Pending Board review of the incident, the parent, adult or child offender will be suspended from SCYS practice, games or activities. A review and finding will be issued by the Board within 10 calendar days unless additional time is needed to investigate. The Board decision shall be final.

I understand that there is no grandstand coaching. As a spectator, I will cheer and provide encouragement and support to ALL the teams, children, coaches and referees.

I understand SCYS is run exclusively by unpaid volunteers who seek to provide all involved children the best positive football and cheer experience possible. I will not verbally or physically assault any member of the Siskiyou County Youth Sports or Siskiyou County Trojans which includes board members, coaches, other parents or players. The same rules apply to referees and any member of other teams and the SYF. Profanity is not allowed and there is a zero tolerance of drugs, alcohol, tobacco or being under the influence at any practice, game or SCYS activity. If under the influence, I will be asked to leave any SCYS activity and barred from future events. My behavior may not only affect myself and my player but possibly removal of the whole team or all of Siskiyou County Trojans from participating in the SYF League.

I understand that I am only one parent signing this contract. It is my duty and responsibility to inform other parents of my athlete, relatives and guests of my athlete of the behavior rules. I may also be removed for bad behaviors from any of my guests.

I understand that all fees are non-refundable once my child begins conditioning. Any registration fees paid by sponsors or through ticket sales are non-refundable and considered a donation to SCYS.

Equipment Liability: I understand that I will sign a receipt for equipment before my child will be issued specific equipment to play or cheer, and that equipment must be returned at the end of the season. I am responsible for the Current Replacement Cost (CRC) of any lost or damaged equipment that is issued to my child, except for normal wear and tear. I also understand that I will be billed for the CRC, without exception, for missing or damaged equipment. ►The CRC for football equipment issued to each football player is $450.00. ►The CRC for cheerleading equipment issued per cheerleader is $225.00.

I understand that many parents, team parents and professional photographers photograph practices, games at home and away and general SCYS functions and events. I understand and agree that my or my child's picture or likeness can be used by the Siskiyou County Trojans and other Associations and business partners (ie, photographers, the newspaper) for publicity, advertising, on the websites and in videos, movies, newsprint, magazines, mailers, etc., and other manual or electronic forms of distribution and viewing, for no fee. I may purchase pictures, videos, newspapers, posters, etc., at my own cost.

I understand that Football and Cheer are inherently demanding and dangerous sports. I hereby release, waive, discharge and covenant not to sue SCYS, SYF, its directors, officers or agents from liability to the undersigned, the named child and all his or her personal representatives, assigns, heirs and next of kin for any loss or damage, and any claim or demands therefore on account of injury to the children while the children are participating in any program affiliated with SCYS or SYF.

The undersigned hereby assumes full responsibility for risk of bodily harm, injury or death to the named child due to the negligence of SCYS, SCT or SYF while participating in any program affiliated with SCYS or SYF.

The undersigned further expressly agrees that this Release and Waiver is intended to be as broad and inclusive as is permitted by the laws of the State of California and that if any portion thereof is held invalid, it is agreed that the balance shall, notwithstanding, continue in full legal force and effect.

By signing this contract, I promise to abide by these rules and do my best to uphold them. I understand I can be asked to leave a SCYS activity if I cannot abide by these rules.
